Slanghoek mountain resort is home to some of the best camping Rawsonville has to offer. With 18 beautiful shaded grassy campsites that are right next to a peaceful stream. Each site has its own private ablution facility with hot water showers and a power-point. They also have

braai facilities and are within walking distance of a convenience store in case you need some supplies in a pinch.  

There are a variety of activities available at this resort. These include putt-putt, horse riding, fishing, hiking, and swimming in their pools. Meaning there is always something to do while you are immersed in nature’s beauty.

A stay at Slanghoek mountain resort costs roughly R900 for a campsite able to accommodate a maximum of 6. Electricity is included in the rates for the campsite. With so many activities and such an idyllic location, this really is one of the best places to go camping.

Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway

Another great bit of camping Rawsonville has to offer is at Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway. Located on a working fruit and wine farm it offers a unique glance into the culture of the area. While also allowing you to escape the stresses of modern life and get back to nature.

They have a total of 11 separate campsites spread out along the river bank. These sites can accommodate between 15 and 20 guests each depending on the site. All sites have private ablution facilities with showers and hot water. They also all have a portable braai, though you will need to bring your own braai grid. 8 of the 11 sites have electricity, and all sites are close to a kiosk that sells supplies and snacks.

There are a number of outdoor activities at Dwarsberg. For nature lovers, there are 3 hiking trails amongst the orchards, including one that takes you through a waterfall, with plenty of bird-watching opportunities. There is also fly fishing in the Holsloot river, and various mountain biking trails for thrill seekers.

A stay at a Dwarsberg campsite will cost between R780 and R990pps (per person sharing) depending on the campsite. This will however give you the entire campsite for you and your group. Allowing you to have an exclusive nature retreat in this beautiful valley.

Eagle’s Nest Riverside Camp

If you’re looking for a bit of riverside camping Rawsonville has just the place for you. Eagle’s Nest is situated just 4.8km outside of Rawsonville and has a campsite right on the edge of Breede Rivier. The flowing river makes this an idyllic and tranquil campsite ideal for a relaxing vacation.

The campsites are beautifully grassy areas and have a protected Lapa right on the river ideal for hanging out with friends or eating your meals. Each site has a power-point, though it is advised that you bring a 15m+ extension cord and water. On-site ablution facilities include a shower and basin with hot water and a scullery for washing dishes. There are braai facilities at each site though you must bring your own grid.

There are many activities available at these campsites. Water-based activities like swimming, canoeing, and paddle boarding are allowed in the river, though you must bring your own equipment. There are also hiking trails with a lot of birding opportunities, and mountain biking trails. There is no shortage of outdoor activities available at this campsite.

There is a minimum occupancy of  6 people per campsite, and they charge R120 per person per night, and R60 for children under 12. The campsite is also pet friendly though this is only

by prior arrangement. The Eagle’s Nest is a breathtaking campsite that has all the essentials for a memorable camping trip.
